J.R. Hess began his young professional career as a cell animator and cartoonist for Walt Disney Studios. He then moved west a short time later to work as a patina artist finishing bronze sculptures for Wyland Galleries. His interest in all avenues of art have lead him down many diversified roads and experiences from which he draws for his current works. After years of experimenting with various multimedia and classical art forms, he personally finds working in graphite and color pencil to be the most rewarding of all mediums. With his artwork, Hess attempts to bring awareness of the importance of wildlife conservation and cultural preservation.
J.R. Hess studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and The Art Center of Albuquerque, NM.
