LUMINOUS: BRUCE CHEEVER
March 2 - 15, 2015
Scottsdale, Arizona
Scottsdale, AZ..Trailside Galleries is pleased to present a special showcase of new works for artist Bruce Cheever. The paintings will be on view at the gallery from March 2 through March 15.
Born in 1958, the Utah artist credits his education at Brigham Young University and a professional career as an illustrator as prime training ground in both observation and discipline.
Cheever’s newest body of work exemplifies his affinity for tonalism and luminism. His atmospheric, bucolic paintings often have a pastoral element in the subject, much of it inspired by the landscapes and old homesteads found in the west. Recent trips to Europe, including Switzerland, Italy and Great Britain have also inspired a series of beautiful, pastoral paintings.
Regardless of subject matter, Cheever strives to evoke emotion in the sense of place and endeavors to convey a rich feeling of nostalgia for viewers by inspiring them to pay attention to the simple beauties of life. He notes, “I draw inspiration from what I love the most: impressionism, tonalism, luminism and realism. I admire each element for its own individual merit. When I choose a subject to render, it is the result of having had a personal connection with a certain place or thing in my life.
