Dan Chen, b. 1963, Canton (China)
Formal art instruction for Chen began at age 15 and he was introduced to traditional Chinese master artists who familiarized him with various painting techniques and helped hone his artistic observational skills. For five years he studied under the critical eye of his mentors. Dan immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1984, where he studied graphic design and illustration at the Academy of Art University and San Francisco City College. In 1993 he moved to Eugene, Oregon with his young family. Since that time Dan's professional career has focused on nature and wildlife art in both painting and sculpture. His integration of eastern and western disciplines has produced a dynamic style. He is a Signature Member of SAA (Society of Animal Artists) and has received numerous awards for both two dimensional and three dimensional works in the Society Annual Exhibition. Dan continues to reside in Eugene, Oregon.
