Trailside Galleries is pleased to announce Lanny Grant: Back to the Winds, a show of all new works by the Colorado based landscape painter. The show will be on exhibit at the gallery from July 27 through August 8 and can be viewed online as well.
This newest collection of recent paintings will feature landscape scenes based on his annual pack trips into the vast Wind River Range in Wyoming. Since 2012, Grant has ventured by horseback into the Bridger Wilderness near Pinedale, Wyoming to sketch and paint for one to two weeks each summer.
He has frequently accompanied Wyoming artist Tucker Smith, who has often or-ganized the pack trips, to explore remote alpine areas of the Winds and to retrace the routes taken by Carl Rungius over one hundred years ago. The opportunity for Grant to work uninterrupted in this wild country has resulted in many field studies and sketches that have evolved into the larger studio works featured in this exhibition.
“The difficulty of accessing these remote areas really makes an artist value his time there,” says Grant. “Spending time in the high country of the Wind River mountains has provided lasting inspiration to paint the beautiful lakes, streams and vistas of this rugged western landscape....always luring this artist 'Back to the Winds’.
